When I first ordered this product I was thinking it would be a convenient way to make Grawnola. I no longer have to soak and dehydrate my buckwheat because it has been done already! Well, that was true, but then I found another great use...making sprouted buckwheat flour. To make the flour I just put them in my Blendtec blender and select the grind grain mode and presto, sprouted buckwheat flour (wheat and gluten free) that is great for making pizza crust, bread sticks, you name it.

LEAP Food® buckwheat groats are made from organic buckwheat groats, free from chemical treatment. They have been sprouted and dehydrated making them very digestible, nutritious, and alkalizing. All the work has been done for you. Just buy and use.

Source and Processing

LEAP Food® buckwheat groats starts with organic and chemically untreated buckwheat groats. The groats are then sprouted and dried at 110°F. This process makes nuts and seeds crunchy while bringing out their sweet, nutty flavor!

Benefits

Buckwheat groats have many benefits:

  • The protein found in buckwheat contains the eight essential amino acids.
  • Buckwheat is rich in B vitamins as well as phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper and manganese.
  • Buckwheat is a good oil source of Alpha-Linolenic Acid, which is one of the two essential fatty acids we must have to be healthy.
  • Buckwheat is high in fiber. A single cup of cooked buckwheat groats contains over 4 grams of dietary fiber.
  • Buckwheat contains a rich supply of flavonoids.
  • Buckwheat lowers glucose levels and is beneficial for managing diabetes.
  • Buckwheat has been found to lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol.
  • Buckwheat is a fruit seed and is a gluten-free alternative to grains.

Sprouting causes a useful breakdown of complex compounds, transforming them into essential combinations that are far more digestible than in their raw state. Amino acids/protein and nutritious fat, fiber, and total vitamin and mineral contents improve with the sprouting process.

Sprouting removes the raw groat’s enzyme inhibitors that can cause digestive problems, while activating digestive enzymes to assist your body in digesting its nutrients. Sprouting also removes the water-soluble phytic and oxalic acids in nuts and seeds that can block the assimilation of some nutrients.

Herbalists such as the famed Isabel Shipard have been proponents of such techniques to “cure” nuts and seeds. The digestive enzymes can serve as catalysts for growth and health. “Alive” sprouts also produce critical systemic enzymes, which work in your body to give maximum effects for better health.

Imagine how much time you will save buying our sprouted nuts and seeds! Sprouting and dehydrating can take a few days. With LEAP Food® sprouted nuts and seeds you just buy and eat them.
