This is a truly raw, organic cashew nut. Unlike the cashews you buy at the store, these nuts have never been heat treated. They are truly raw and hand-shelled.

Source and Processing

Beware of any cashew labeled raw, except for this one of course. Most cashew suppliers get their cashews from manufacturers that roast or boil them before shelling. This makes it easier for the nut to be shelled, but destroys the nuts natural enzymes, nutrients and causes the fats to go rancid!

Raw Fusion to the rescue! These are truly raw cashews from Brazil. The nut is shelled at temperatures below 118ºF. The cashews are shelled by hand and vacuumed packed for freshness.

Benefits

Cashew nuts are an excellent sources of iron (important for red blood cell function and enzyme activity), magnesium (promotes energy release and bone growth), phosphorus (builds bones and teeth), zinc (aids digestion, metabolism, fertility) and selenium (strong antioxidant properties).

These nuts are also good sources of protein.

In comparison to other tree nuts, cashew nuts have a lower fat content. They are also, like all other tree nuts, cholesterol free.

Cashew nuts also contain significant amounts of phytochemicals with antioxidant properties that protects the body from cancer and heart disease.

For the maximum nutritional and digestive experience, Raw Fusion recommends that you soak the cashews 24 hours (changing water every 4-8 hours) to remove the nut’s natural enzyme inhibitors, phytic and oxalic acids. If you prefer a nice crunch, dehydrate at low temperatures.

If you chose to eat them raw, we highly recommend you take a digestive enzyme with proteases (protein digesting enzymes) before eating them to help your body overcome the natural enzyme inhibitors found in all nuts and seeds.

Recipe

Pure Vanilla Ice Cream (4 servings, if you share)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sprouted and dehydrated cashews
  • 2 ¼ cups of water
  • 10 dates
  • 1 tbsp vanilla powder
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar or more if desire

Preparation: Blend and freeze according to ice cream freezer instructions.
