When we first tasted Gopal’s power wraps, the flavor and texture reminded us of “slim jims”. It is vegan and very healthy. Each package has two sticks of “Italian” flavorings mixed with germinated seeds, wrapped in tasty nori sheets.
Source and Processing
This product’s seeds are germinated. It is dehydrated at or under 108ºF. It consists of organic sunflower seeds, organic sesame seeds, organic sun-dried tomatoes, organic nori (fish-free), nutritional yeast, organic lemon, Celtic Sea Salt®, and organic spices.
Even though nutritional yeast is pasteurized (the only ingredient in this product that is not raw), Raw Fusion highly recommends this product to vegans and vegetarians to ensure they have an adequate supply of B12.
Benefits
Germinating causes a useful breakdown of complex compounds, transforming them into essential combinations that are far more digestible than in their raw state. Amino acids/protein and nutritious fat, fiber, and total vitamin and mineral contents improve with the germinating process.
Germinating removes the enzyme inhibitors in nuts and seeds that can cause digestive problems, while activating digestive enzymes to assist your body in digesting the nut/seed’s nutrients. Germinating also removes the water-soluble phytic and oxalic acids in nuts and seeds that can block the assimilation of some nutrients.
Sunflower seeds are rich in energy, minerals, vitamins, proteins, and other nutrients. Their consumption has been shown to lower cholesterol and heart disease. Further research has also demonstrated their ability to act as an antioxidant and help lessen after meal surges in blood sugar.
Sesame seeds are an excellent source of manganese and copper. They are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B1, zinc and dietary fiber. In addition, sesame seeds contain two unique substances: sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals. Sesamin has also been found to protect the liver from oxidative damage.
Tomatoes contain large amounts of vitamin C and deliver significant amounts of vitamin A, potassium, and iron. The red pigment contained in tomatoes (lycopene) acts as an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals that can damage cells in the body. Studies have shown that lycopene may have twice the effectiveness beta-carotene. Lycopene and other nutrients in tomatoes have been shown in studies to reduce the risk of several types of cancer.
Lemons are a great source of vitamin C and its juice is a powerful antibacterial. Lemon is a source of the minerals potassium, niacin and thiamin. It is also very alkalizing. Did you know that lemons are a staple of mountaineers? In cases of low oxygen and difficulty in breathing lemon comes to the rescue. Edmund Hillary, the first man to put his foot on the top of Mt. Everest, admitted that his victory over Mt. Everest was greatly due to lemon.
The amount of nutrition contained in nori is the highest among seaweeds, and nori is high in protein. Nori also contains vitamins and minerals such as iron and calcium as well as EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and fiber, which are necessary for maintaining good health.
